HOW WE SUPPORT THE CHILDREN

STOP! Children’s Cancer of Palm Beach County, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to finding a cure for childhood cancers by funding research in pediatric oncology.

Since its founding in 1983, STOP! Children’s Cancer has donated 100% of the net proceeds raised to research in pediatric oncology, totaling over $4 million dollars.

In the United States, across all ethnic, gender, and socio-economic groups, this disease remains a leading cause of death by disease in children ages 1-15.  Major advances in research and treatments have improved survival rates from 10 percent fifty years ago to nearly 90 percent today.  However, for many rare cancers, the survival rate is much lower.  And unfortunately, the number of diagnosed cases annually has not declined in nearly 20 years.

  • Every day, 43 children are diagnosed with cancer.

  • The average age of children diagnosed is 6.

  • 12% of children diagnosed with cancer do not survive.

  • More than 40,000 children undergo treatment for cancer each year.
