ABOUT STOP!
STOP! Children’s Cancer of Palm Beach County, Inc. is a tax-exempt, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, dedicated to raising money to fund research for pediatric oncology.
Until 1990, the donations supported research, medicines and laboratory equipment at Shands Children’s Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. Later that year, an endowment was created to sustain the ongoing annual efforts at Shands, to include a team of doctors and fellows dedicated to finding a cure.
In the early 2000s, Miami Children’s Hospital, St. Mary's Medical Center, The Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation and the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital approached STOP! for financial consideration on specific oncology projects. With careful reflection, STOP! identified the needs and expanded their funding to also support these organizations.

STOP! Children's Cancer Founders
The Dober Family
STOP! was inspired by a brave family who built a positive future out of a devastating loss. In 1983, Dr. and Mrs. Stanley Dober held a charity tennis tournament in West Palm Beach, Florida, to honor the memory of their daughter Nancie Dober, who lost her 3-year battle with osteogenic sarcoma at the age of 15. The funds raised from this event were sent to the University of Florida in Gainesville where Nancie had been undergoing cancer treatments. This event was the first of many fundraisers sponsored by STOP! to benefit pediatric cancer research. The Dober family remains active with STOP! Children’s Cancer today.
